Have a Theme

Personalizing your kids’ birthday party with theme can reflect their favorite activities and preferences per year, it can create a lot of memories when they grow up. For parents, you can see the growing path, from the Thomas train, Minions, Cars and then to your big boy. Time just flies!

Acing this step not only promises a splendid birthday celebration for your child but also brings a sense of achievement and self-satisfaction.

There are no limitations on what themes you can use for a theme party.

Movie themes are the most common. You can plan your child’s party based on their favorite movies, cartoon, or animation.

You could also plan a sports theme party to highlight or showcase your child’s favorite sport or game. Carnivals, games, TV series, and novels are other party theme ideas you can try.

It’s worth mentioning that you can successfully create a unique theme for your kid’s party without necessarily going to the extreme. You can pick one highlight, for example, the birthday cake, and then use matching color to decorate it.

Go out and about

Having a birthday party outside the house is always a great idea. Especially when they have many friends, one house is certainly not enough for more than 10 active boys.

Consider getting tickets to a movie or his favorite game or even hiring a movie theater. You can take some friends along.

Be sure to have enough adults to supervise them and make necessary provisions when they get hungry.

Make it activity-filled

Play host and invite their friends over. Indulge them in fun activities like horse riding, dancing, swimming, paintballing, wall climbing, water rafting, canoeing, and so on.

However, if this promises to stretch your budget, you can organize a picnic.

Fun activities like this are an excellent way for your kid to do something they love on their birthday with people they love.

Let Them Decide

If you’re unclear about anything, ask for your kid’s for their opinions. What would they love to do on their birthday?

This would save you time and the day. Imagine how things would turn out if you planned a big party when all they wanted to do was spend the day with you or at their favorite bookstore.

1. Nerf war

This is a good option for a fun party activity. You only need a few nerf guns, bullseye targets, foam ballet holders, safety goggles, and a scoreboard.

However, if your child is a nerf gun lover, you can center your kid’s birthday party around this theme. A nerf-themed cake, a nerf-themed decoration, camouflage cupcakes, and even your kid’s birthday outfit could set the mood.

Create your battlefield, set up targets like spin wheels and hoops, and place distances from each other. If you’re having a pool party, create floating targets.

You can organize a nerf war at home in your backyard or rent out outdoor space.

2. Laser Tag

The layer of competition in this game improves teamwork and subtly trains your pre-teen’s survival instincts. The best part? It keeps the boys moving.

Laser tag is a great game to play indoors. However, if you expect many guests or would rather not deal with the noise, you can reach out to a laser tag company. This will also be the better alternative if you plan a laser tag theme party.

The company will not only handle all the planning for the party, but it will provide everything the tweens will need and coordinate a wide range of games and activities to test their skills.

3. Paintball

Although paintball is largely considered a game for older kids, there is a version of paintball suitable for kids 8 years and above. This version uses paintballs with 60 percent less impact.

Finding a venue that offers these low-impacting paintballs is the perfect birthday activity for your big schooler. However, it is not cheap, so you might have to limit the number of guests.

4. Skating

Skating is a brilliant party idea for your 9 years old boy if he and his friends are excited about skateboarding. It will also be perfect if your kid plans to invite a few older friends.

Make inquiries at an indoor skate park facility to rent it out for a few hours. This would be great if you’re looking for the kids to have all the ramps to themselves – they would love this.

Most indoor parks have birthday packages that cover entry fees and entertainment. Some even offer lessons to newbie skaters.

An okay alternative is using a public skatepark. This is ideal in warmer months or if you are not looking to give the kids a fun time without having to spend much.

Be sure to have enough food and drinks when the kids get tired and hungry.

5. Bowling

Hire out a lane in a bowling alley for a few hours – this would be enough time to have fun without letting the competitiveness get out of hand. You can prepare some prizes to alleviate the mood just in case someone gets upset about losing.

You can rent a bowling lane, enjoy snacks from the concession stand, and take the kids somewhere to eat afterward.

Instead, you can book a birthday package – some alleys offer this. Either way, the goal is to enjoy bowling hours, a little bit of competitiveness, and have fun doing that.

6. Parkour

Parkour is getting increasingly popular with pre-teens, and it has that cool and fun factor that keeps young boys enthralled.

If your kid loves scaling fences or jumping around, why not give them a birthday treat in a parkour gym?

The gyms are padded, so the chances of injury are minimal. Regardless, just let the boys have fun. As usual, don’t forget to go with enough food.

If you’re faint of heart, consider letting another older person you trust take them. You wouldn’t want to ruin the atmosphere with excessive screams and gasps.

7. City Scavenger Hunt

This party idea would require a bit of foresight and planning. However, don’t be deterred; it would be a great idea.

Prepare a list of 20 items that can be found in your city. Go as broad as you like. The list could include ‘daffodils,’ ‘closed’ signs, a tree with red flowers, or anything you can think of.

Divide the guests into two teams. Maybe let the birthday boy do the honors by picking names out of a hat.

Arm each team with a camera, drop the two teams off at different locations in the city, and give them a set time limit to tick everything off the list. Also, please provide them with enough money to buy food in case they get hungry while out.

8. Bootcamp Party

Birthdays like these focus less on the cakes and sweet treats and more on the training. Hire a personal trainer to train your child and his group of friends.

It’s also an excellent idea to get them personalized t-shirts if your budget permits. Also, have enough water bottles and towels for everyone. And when they’ve worked hard enough, serve up salads and huge slices of cake—the irony.

9. Swimming

Swimming is another excellent birthday idea for a tween. Pimp the pool with super cool accessories like splash rollers, pool floats, or volleyballs.

Consider organizing fun games too. Some examples are Marco Polo, popsicle, swimming races, treasure diving, and play buckets with the children’s names. Colorful photo ops would be cool as well.

Aside from being perfect on a hot summer day, it is cost-effective as you only have to pay for the pool hire rather than for each guest. This means you get to invite as many guests as you want.

And if you have a pool at home, even better. Organizing a nice floating movie for the evening can make things more interesting.

Be sure to reduce the depth of the pool so the kids can stand in it.

10. VR game tournament

You can set up an outdoor gaming tournament of whatever game is trending at the moment. Kids love to game, so why not allow them to do it without the usual scolding? Plus, it’s a birthday party, and let them have fun.

Make available loads of snacks and pizza for those mid-game moments.

Spice up the mood with little trophies or prizes for the top three finishers, and hand them out before the cake.

11. Go-karting

If you want to increase your child’s adrenaline levels and take their excitement for their special day to another level, treat him to a go-karting day out with friends.

One pro is that they don’t need to know how to drive a car to race around in go-karts. Aside from the thrill, go-karting trains your child’s motor skills and improves their coordination.

Go-karts are available for a variety of ages. However, most centers have a minimum age requirement of eight years and 130 centimeters of height, respectively.

It’s safe to check with your go-kart provider before making a decision.

Be sure to make findings for available amusement parks or centers, and make reservations before the birthday date. If making it a theme party, design a black and white checkered flag name tag for each child. Also, prepare party invitations, plates, and napkins with go-kart designs. You can go further by making a race-car-themed cake, party favors, and treats.
